Hello Kitty Comes to Town
Surina made her own mask depicting her favorite topic of the year- "Hello Kitty". She is really creative! I already have an idea of what she could be for Halloween for only a few cents. But she did say she would like to be a butterfly... Hmm...
Massanutten
Almost every summer, we get invited to go to Massanutten with the children's babysitter's awesome family. This year, after swimming, we were able to feed wild deer! In the past, they rarely came up to the house, but I guess the deer finally got smart and knew two-legged creatures that lived in fake wooden homes had food.
No Longer A Baby...
Surina has officially lost her first tooth, on Mother's Day! The tooth fairy visited her and because it was her first tooth ever, the fairy gave her $5.00. After each tooth, it is only a dollar. She already has another loose tooth and she made a prediction it will fall out on July 4th, along with the fireworks. 
Pottery
In April, Feta and I had a retreat for the weekend. Feta surprised me by taking me to this "Do It Yourself" pottery place. I made the iris platter with two special dates and Feta made a plate with kids' favorite things and colors. Recently, I investigated what people were supposed to give each other for 9 years of marriage and believe it or not, it's pottery! How fitting!
Finally Some Housework
As the title says, finally some housework- One of Feta's friends was willing to help him fix up the sad house. So far, we have replaced the door, power washed the house, painted frames around windows and doors. I included the "before" picture as a reminder how sad it was! Hopefully, the next project will be painting some rooms and adding storm windows (replacing seems too expensive right now) and maybe repair the floors somehow. If not, there's always next year... however, we said that for the last 3 years :-)
9 Years
We recently celebrated our 9 years anniversary. I got irises (our favorite) and 3 roses to represent our children. Of course, they were our wedding flowers. I wrote Feta a poem (because I forgot to get him a card and he reminded me when he gave me his). We had celebrated our anniversary a few days earlier. One of our friends babysat our little two while we went to this new restaurant, The Melting Pot. That place was definitely a unique experience, but would we go back?... maybe for the dessert- that was GOOD! I'm looking forward to next year's celebration- 10 years and a trip out of the states!!
Freaks of Nature
Rowan is always getting hurt one way or another, so he constantly has a band-aid on him. Surina is no longer obsessed with dinosaurs. However, she is obsessed with Hello Kitty. She has Hello Kitty tattooes, Hello Kitty underwear, Hello Kitty pajamas and clothes, and hand-me-down Hello Kitty books and pillow from Mallory.
Surina's Graduation From Preschool
I was really impressed with Surina on stage. She showed no fear or any indication of stage fright. She signed a solo song while her classmates sang, danced on stage, and sang her "Frog On A Log" for her preschool graduation. Go girl!
Yes... It Struck Once Again
However, Surina started spreading it first. She called her brother over and of course, as always, Rowan will do whatever Surina says. Soon, the ink started to spread all over him and Surina wanted to have the same disease, so she asked her daddy to help. He obliged and then, Mommy took over and finished the markeritis once and for all...let's hope!
A Chameleon
Ah, to be a teenager again. Mallory has played with her hair this past year, from long blonde locks to chocolate brown bob to short red sassy hair. Now Mallory says she wants to grow her hair really long once again. We'll see... :-) Nevertheless, she has the most beautiful smile and I enjoy seeing it.
April Showers... I Think Not!
This happened in April, just shortly after the Easter Bunny visited. Mallory is living proof that no one is too old for Easter Egg Hunt and goodies. Yes, it was that hot enough to set up the mini pool and an imaginary tent outside.
Someone's 33!
(I know this is behind...but this is my part of trying to catch up). Surina wanted to help make her daddy's birthday cake. I think she did pretty well with the carrots and a smiley face. I was never one to decorate a cake professionally, but it has always been edible! He said the best birthday present anyone could have is to be with family.
Good News
Good news come to those who wait...and wait...and wait. Pictures are coming-LOTS. After all, there is a lot we need to catch up on. Now, the hard part is finding the time where I don't hear, "Mommy!" or where I don't find a little monkey on my back or a chatterbox just chatting and chatting, sometimes the same thing over and over again, which makes me wonder if she is broken. I promise you... pictures are coming SOON!
S.O.S.
No, we are not begging for help...more of for sanity. :-) I realized I am way behind on the blog, especially with pictures and such. I have been working 60+ hours and will until June 4th, for our tenth year anniversary next year. Feta is busy working, taking care of the family and then when I come home, he is working in the office to catch up on hours. How can it be May already?? I don't think we have sat down to breathe, but we have taken the time to take the kids up to Sherando Lake a couple times and we actually swam in it, that one day it was 90 degrees in April! (or was it May... oh well) or go to the park and enjoy the sunshine. We still have our ups and downs with the kids, but that is nothing new there. This is just a short note to let you know we are alive and kicking... kicking the kids off our legs and saying, "I am not your mother/father...I am now a monster that eats children..." There's nothing better than kids shrieking for mercy.... :-)

The Second Igloo
Feta was jealous that Surina and I built an igloo, so he decided to make his own. This method, he just dug a hole in the huge pile of snow. I call that cheating! But it worked out well- it was strong enough for Surina to stand on top.

Mallory likes to make chocolate chip cookies (I think it is for the cookie dough...) and she made a mega cookie for Surina. This picture is not the actual size, mind ya.

You thought I was going to clean those marks?? Ha- I got Mr. Clean Eraser and the kids thought it was the greatest thing on the earth, ever invented (besides toys) so they cleaned the tub for me. Suckers!!
